Guest session on Online Brand Management, SEO & Usability
As i had mentioned in this post that I would soon be conducting guest session on Online Brand Management, SEO and Usability in PUMBA (Pune University MBA school). I also had mentioned about brief outline of this session here. Just to updated, I am done with the session on Friday 30th. It was thrilling experience to stand and talk in front of budding managers and MBA students.
Session started with a brief overview on importance of online brand management and role of CGM (Consumer Generated Media). Role of online presence as well as social presence was discussed in the session. I also talked about user preferences and how do they change according to mode of purchase. Session also had a little talk on brand tempering and managing online visibility. By online visibility doesn’t mean only to get loads of visitors and rank high in search engines. It is about how keenly as a brand manager you are listening to online conversation about your brand. I tried to talk about reverse SEO techniques that could be used to push the bad press results and other websites down the search engines and make a positive impression about your brand.
Session proceeded with little discussion on how to make user friendly designs and keep the transactions simple. Typical user registration form example was discussed here. I also showed some of the optimization and rank results that brought extraordinary returns to organizations.
Session was concluded on a tone of usability and its advantages. Also I mentioned what are the common mistakes to avoid while making UI, SEO and managing the brand online.
I accept that I am not an expert on these topics but I am thankful to Joel Xavier (Ex-student IIM-A) for helping me and arranging this session.
Entire transcript of the session can be found here after 2nd May 2010. You can also download the presentation that I had prepared for this session.
