Happy Republic Day to all Indians
Soon after the Indian National Congress, at the forefront of the country’s independence movement, adopted the ‘purna swaraj’ or complete independence resolution at its Lahore convention on New Year’s Day in 1930, Mahatma Gandhi called for a day of celebration on Jan 26, which till 1947 came to be observed as Independence Day. 26th Jan. marks the day when our constitution came into act.
It’s been 60 years, we are celebrating this day with due respect to our soldiers, citizens & Our Country. I want to take an opportunity to quote, we should not remember our resposibility towards our country only on 15th August or 26th Jan. Today, days like 26th Jan and 15th Aug. have become a symbol of holiday. The working middle class and/or IT class of India look towards this day as yet another holiday. How many of you got off from bed early morniong and attended Republich function? or at least switched on the tv and turned on the channel that is broadcasting our National Parade? Some of us must be still sleeping. Are we really being deaf towards our responsibility?
My friend keeps on telling me how his colleagues argue with him that India is a backward country and how much they love to go onsite. It’s really shame for us that young people like them are thinking to quit country just for the sake of comfort, false materialistic things and at what cost? Pride, trust , self respect & love. Such people are mesmerized by extravaganza of foreign nations but forget that this is their home, their land and one or the other day when they feel someting towards it, it would have been late. I would take this opportunity to tell every young of this India that it’s our responsibility to make India shine. Just abusing the system won’t help at all. We, together need take efforts.
We read news, discuss about it and even express anger, but how many of us really think that it’s our duty as a citizen to contribute or do whatever in least possible way? This calls of urgency. An urgency to think, to act and to contribute towards our country. This calls for unity. Unity that is free of all caste system, reservations & Marathi or non-Marathi conflict. We are Indians first. Have we forgotten this? Let us unite against evil, let us unite for the love of our nation, take pride in calling ourselves an Indian.
I attended flag hoisting at near by school. What are you planning to do? a movie? or understanding the resposibility.
Again, warm greetings of Republich Day to all our readers.
Ameya
