Apart from spectacular beaches, there is a temple of SWAYAMBHU {self originated} GANESH, who is considered to be the PASCHIM DWARDEVTA {WESTERN SENTINEL GOD OF INDIA} and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year.

Nearest railhead is bhoke at ratnagiri and is more convenient.

Malagund: 1km away from Ganpatipule and is the native place of Marathi poet KAVI KESHAVSOOT is built by the marathi sahitya parishad (Marathi Literature committee) and is worth a visit.

Ratnagiri: About 25km away and is remembered in Indian mythology as a place where the pandavas settled after 13years pilgrimage, the especial attractions in ratnagiri are:
Lokmanya Tilak Smark: Place, maintained by local communities as it was the birthplace of Lokmanya Tilak.
Thibaw Palace: where the last king of Burma was incarcerated by british in 1885 and The Patit Pawan built by veer savarkar, is the first place of worship for non Brahmins.
Pawas: A beautiful ashram of swami swaroopanand, a place blessed with natural beauty, a must visit place.
Jaigarh Fort: 17th century fort, built at the Sangameshwar River is 35km away from Ganpatipule; it rests on the mountain peak and gives rare view of konkan village life in laps of mother nature surrounded by sea.

Some Tips:
Marathi is mostly used language other than Hindi and English. May is hottest month so winters are most preferred, monsoon lasts from June to October and rains are plenty.
Food:
Poli, phanaspoli, modak, for non-veg lovers, fish curries and kokam kadi are worth trying. Veggies will love tasty dal, vegetables prepared with coconut base. And if u visit there in summers, DO NOT miss tasting Devgad Hapus – The most famous mango variety in the world. This was all about our first holiday sight. Have a great holiday friends.
