New weekend at new destination…this time at TARKARLI..it is a paradise of tiny islands and hamlets and beautiful casuarina trees…it is in sindhudurg district of maharashtra,near karli river which meets the Arabian sea..the blue beach meets the sparkling blue sea..tall green trees and virgin beaches attracts everyone from 15 to 55yrs..lets have a look….

SINDHUDURG FORT:

it is situated about 2km out at sea,off the coast of tarkarli..it covers 48acres and has a 2mile long wall which is 30feet high and 12 feet thick..it is a symbol of maratha naval dominance where you can see the palm trees and footprints of chhatrapati shivaji maharaj,the king who built this fort..there is shri

shivarajeshwar temple to visit..

There are many other small forts around sindhudurg which were built to strengthen the defence of this fort..in the process forts like bhagavantagad,bharatgad,nivati and yashavantgad came into being..these small forts were built in neighbouring island of padmagad,which was the main shipbuilding base of shivaji’s navy..these small forts were built on the mainlands of rajkot and sarjekot,north of malvan..

sarjekot is 2km north of rajkot,a little beyond revandi village..it was built in 1668 by shivaji on a hillock at kalavali creek..it was once navigable..it was ideal for anchoring and shipbuilding and was safe for pirates…

TARKARLI CREEK:

it is rich and known for its rare aquatic life and variety of miratory birds..it is a major attractionfor fishing enthusiasts..

DEOBAUG BEACH:

This beach is a great place to relax while watching seagulls around..it is few kilometers away from tarkarli..

DHAMAPUR:

This lake offers boating and other water sports facilities..this lake is blessed with clean and crystal clear water which is absolutely irresistible..it is mere 20km from malvan..

VALAVAL:

It is famous for its natural beauty..on a clear night,you can see the setting sun and the rising moon together in sky and their reflection in karli river which creates the illusiuon of two suns or two moons..near by is situated a laxminarayan mandir which is damn beautiful and worth watch..this place is 15km from malvan..

SHRIDEV RAMESHMAR{ACHARA}:

This deity is revered in entire region..achara has large and beautiful shoreline which draws tourists from all the parts of world..

It is 15km away from malvan..
